PharmD Insight fosters clients' comfort levels with their medications and how those medications can work to maximize quality of life. As medication advocates, we strive to educate health professionals and community members with the goal of imparting an understanding of drugs and their effects.
Medications can be confusing, so we are here to help. We conduct individual client medication reviews which include obtaining necessary health information from the client, providing recommendations, and contacting the prescriber, if necessary. We empower our clients through knowledge about their medications to best support their health.
Using the CDC's STEADI-Rx guidelines, we focus on fall prevention. Falls can lead to loss of independence, decreased mobility, hospitalizations, and death. We look at factors such as medications and supplements to assess a client's risk of falls. We then make recommendations to the client and prescriber to adjust medications, add physical or occupational therapy, or include an exercise program.
Our passion for healthy aging is also expressed in our presentations. We give health presentations to community groups and also as continuing education for nurses and social workers. The more we all understand about medications, the better equipped we are to help ourselves and others..
